You can upgrade Windows 11 Home to Pro, or Windows 10 Home to Pro, without reinstalling or losing your files.<\/p>\n

  1. Back up your important files, just in case.<\/li>\n
  2. Open Settings with Windows key + I.<\/li>\n
  3. On Windows 11, go to System → Activation<\/strong> and open Upgrade your edition of Windows<\/strong>. On Windows 10, go to Update & Security → Activation<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  4. Select Change product key<\/strong>, enter your Pro key and follow the prompts.<\/li>\n
  5. Your PC restarts, sometimes more than once, and comes back as Pro with your apps and files in place.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Note: this changes the edition (Home to Pro), not the version. Moving from Windows 10 to Windows 11 is done through Windows Update or Microsoft’s Installation Assistant, if your PC meets the requirements.<\/p>\n
