If Office won’t install or the installer stops partway, check the following:
- Internet: the installer downloads files as it runs, so a stable connection matters.
- Disk space: make sure you have several gigabytes free.
- Older versions: uninstall previous Office versions first.
- 32-bit and 64-bit: you can’t mix 32-bit and 64-bit Office apps on one PC. If you already have Office apps such as Visio or Project installed, match their version.
- Pending updates: install any waiting Windows or macOS updates and restart.
- Security software: occasionally it interrupts the installer. Restart and try again.
