Check these before buying or installing Windows 11. Microsoft’s official minimum requirements are:
- Processor: 1 GHz or faster with 2 or more cores, on a compatible 64-bit processor
- Memory: 4 GB RAM
- Storage: 64 GB or more
- Firmware: UEFI with Secure Boot capability
- Security chip: Trusted Platform Module (TPM) version 2.0
- Graphics: DirectX 12 compatible, with a WDDM 2.0 driver
- Display: HD (720p), larger than 9 inches diagonally

Download Microsoft’s free PC Health Check app and select Check now. It tells you whether your PC can run Windows 11 and, if not, why.
If your PC doesn’t meet the Windows 11 requirements, Windows 10 may still run on it. Keep in mind that Microsoft ended free security updates for Windows 10 in October 2025.
