- Press Windows key + I to open Settings.
- Go to System → About.
- Look at System type. It says whether you have a 64-bit or 32-bit operating system, and whether your processor is x64-based.
Why it matters
- Windows 11 is only available in 64-bit.
- If your processor is x64-based but you run 32-bit Windows, you can move to 64-bit, but it requires a clean install.
- Office installs as 64-bit by default. You can’t mix 32-bit and 64-bit Office apps on the same PC, so match any Office apps you already have.
